Beyoglu District
Beyoğlu Istanbul, which is an area in Istanbul, is one of the oldest districts in the city. In the 19th century, it earned the nickname “Paris of the East” due to its European-style architecture. The area was close to Galata, the Ottoman government’s commercial center, so most residents were Venetians, Armenians, and Greeks, with only a small population of Muslims and Turks.
The geographical location of Beyoglu
Beyoğlu, an area in Istanbul, is surrounded by Kagithane to the northwest, the Sisli district to the north, Besiktas, the Bosphorus Strait, and the Bogaz Bridge to the east, and the Istanbul Bay to the west. The total area of Beyoglu is 8076 square kilometers and the population is approximately 225,000 people. However, due to its popularity as a tourist destination, particularly Esteghlal Street and Taksim Square, several million people pass through the area on a daily basis. Beyoglu is made up of 45 neighborhoods.

Beyoglu tourist attractions
Beyoglu is encompassed by a plethora of cultural landmarks such as museums, mosques, cathedrals, art institutions, theaters, and historical palaces. Taksim Square and Esteghlal Street are the most prominent parts of Beyoglu and Istanbul. Esteghlal Street is a bustling area filled with popular clothing stores, restaurants, and cafes. The Galata Tower and Galata Bridge, which connects Beyoglu to the historic Sultan Ahmed neighborhood, are the most well-known tourist attractions in the area. Other notable attractions in Beyoglu include the Madame Tussauds Museum, Pera Museum, Innocence Museum, Atlas Old Cinema, and Turkish Miniature Museum.

Transportation of Beyoglu region
As Beyoglu and Esteghlal Street are the primary tourist districts in Istanbul, the area boasts a wide variety of public transportation options. Taksim Square is home to Istanbul’s central metro station, providing easy access to other parts of the city. Additionally, buses, Metrobus, and Delmosh are available modes of transportation. It’s worth noting that Beyoglu is home to the world’s second underground transportation system, the Funicular, which can take you to Karakoy. Another charming mode of transportation in the area is the antique tram of Esteghlal Street, which is a must-see for anyone visiting Istanbul.
